10 Cambodian Youth Selected to Participate in Japanese Culture and Development Program

BANTEAY MEANCHEY: Ten Cambodian youths were selected by Japan to participate in JENESY'S, a program that provides opportunities for young people in ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste to learn about Japanese culture and development for exchange of mutual experiences under the theme "History of Development between Japan and ASEAN".

The JENESY'S program ran from 24-31 January 2023 in Japan with young people from 10 ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste participating.

The leader of the Cambodian youth group, Nuon Panha, expressed his happiness over being selected to participate in this program. He said that JENESY's is important for ASEAN youth to learn about the success of Japan's development and further development goals, which can provide good educational lessons for ASEAN member countries and especially Cambodia.

"In particular, young Cambodians have learned about a number of topics, such as the presentation of the JICA project, which has provided a lot of assistance for Cambodia's development, Japan's one-village policy, one product and agro-tourism development plan, [in line with the] Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and many other development histories that can enable young Cambodians to gain more new knowledge [and become a valuable] resource for the Royal Government," he said.

Nuon Panha added that students and those working in various fields can participate in the next session of this program by going to the program's official website (https://jaif.asean.org/jaif-component/ jenesys-program) and checking to see when it is recruiting new trainees for internships.
